Rupaul's Drag Race Episode 5 Ruview

This post is a bit late but oh well. Let's jump right into the shenanigans of Episode 5.

To be completely honest this episode seemed really empty due to Trixie not being in the workroom and I still don't think she or Pearl should've been in the bottom 2.

The mini challenge this week was to create celebrity looks out of paper and everyone was divided into groups of two. The teams and looks were as follows:

Ginger Minj and Kandy Ho: Lil Kim

Jaidynn Diore and Kennedy Davenport: Lady Gaga

Pearl and Max: Cher

Mrs Kasha Davis and Katya: Björk

Violet Chachki and Miss Fame: Jennifer Lopez

The winners were Katya and Mrs Kasha Davis and that was pretty obvious because they played up their look by having Kasha act like Joan Rivers on the red carpet. Yaaasss.

The main challenge was called "The Despy Awards" and the girls stayed in their pairs and had to put together presentation speeches to present awards for the categories:

"Sexy Sexy Drag Queen" presented by Jaidynn and Kennedy

"Most Busted Queen" presented by Max and Pearl

"Shadiest Queen" presented by Ginger Minj and Kandy Ho

"Meatiest Tuck" presented by Violet and Miss Fame

Since Katya and Mrs Kasha Davis won the mini challenge, they got to be the co-hosts for the award show.

To help the queens put together their material, Kathy Griffin came back to the show. Each team had time with her during their preparation time. Right away, Miss Fame and Violet start clashing. Battle of the beauties....neither of them are comedy queens so they're throwing ideas back and forth and they both attack each other's ideas.

Kennedy and Jaidynn are clashing because Kennedy is a bit over confident due to winning last week's challenge and Jaidynn is just not having it.

Let's talk about Pearl and Max for a minute. This moment is like...the craziest point in this episode. Pearl has been picked on every week for not having enough personality and acting tired all the time. Rupaul walks in the work room to check on all the teams. He walks over to Max and Pearl and asks how everything is going since Max has a big personality and Pearl doesn't. This gets Pearl upset and she goes "well you kind of just told me I have no personality so that isn't supposed to make me feel good or give me confidence." After this, Pearl and Rupaul kind of have a huge moment of tension with a few words exchanged and a stare off in which Pearl replies "do I have something on my face?" and Rupaul basically tells her that he's not convinced. Max starts encouraging Pearl and Pearl walks out of the workroom and doesn't come back for a few hours. Eventually Pearl comes back and Max tries her best to get her back on track.

Next the girls show Kathy Griffin what they have put together. Kathy wasn't really impressed with Kasha and Katya, although I thought the "Ginger Minj is the Danny Devito of drag" line was pretty witty...but that's just me. Kennedy and Jaidynn say "girl" too much during their presentation to Kathy which I couldn't agree more. Miss Fame and Violet are the farthest thing from funny and Kathy looks bored....I still really love them though, they just aren't comedy queens. Max and Pearl walk in and Kathy isn't too impressed. Kathy is a tough cookie, that's for sure. Ginger Minj and Kandy Ho were next and Kathy calls them out on copying a joke from someone else. Ginger seems unsure of herself at this moment because Kathy told her that their speech wasn't funny.

The next part of the awards preparation was each queen had to vote on who out of their peers should win the award categories. Right off the bat I could already guess a couple of the winners and come to find out, I was correct. :)

When the queens are getting into drag for the awards, Pearl reveals her teenage years were spent being mostly angry all the time and that she has issues with past abandonment. After hearing that, it makes a lot of sense and maybe her Rupaul stand off was something that needed to happen for her to realize she isn't living up to her full potential.

This episode also helped me see how much I really and truly adore Max for always encouraging everyone and standing behind them no matter what. Even though it is a competition she obviously still cares about everyone and doesn't want to see people completely fall short and I feel she needs to be recognized for that. She seems like the rock that holds everyone together in times of tragedy.

The next highlight was Miss Fame putting her makeup on next to Violet and her talking about chickens. This is probably one of the most bizarre minute of Rupaul's Drag Race ever. Looking at Miss Fame and her flawless appearance in drag...one would never guess that she is completely obsessed with chickens. It finally makes sense. She even has a tattoo on her arm of a chicken. A whole minute of the show was dedicated to Miss Fame and her obsession with chickens and it was the best thing ever. She even revealed she sang songs to her chickens and did a chicken noise in the confessional room.

After the conversation about chickens, Violet and Miss Fame seem to open up more to each other and a friendship starts blossoming. No more battle of the beauties.

The award show starts with Katya and Mrs Kasha Davis opening the show and they threw a bit of shade at the other contestants. It was pretty witty but I thought they could've done better because I know they're capable. Same thing with Jaidynn and Kennedy...they did good. Pearl and Max were next and they had me in tears....absolutely FABULOUS. Ginger and Kandy were next and I wasn't a fan of Kandy's dress but that bit where she called Ginger an elephant was pretty funny so they didn't do too bad. I know people will disagree but I really liked Miss Fame and Violet's presentation

The winners were:
"Sexy Sexy Drag Queen": Miss Fame

"Most Busted Queen": Jaidynn Diore Fierce

"Shadiest Queen": Violet Chachki (of course)

"Meatiest Tuck": Katya

And then it was time for the critiques. Pearl and Max won the challenge which I was very excited about because they deserved it. Mrs Kasha Davis isn't over the top enough. Katya's acceptance speech was funnier than her opening speech...and she needs more volume to her wig. Ginger Minj was hilarious in her presentation and she needs to cut back on her black spray she puts on her forehead. Kandy Ho faded into the background compared to Ginger Minj (I agree) and her dress is ugly. Violet talked too fast but she looked stunning as always. Miss Fame looked stunning and the judges are seeing that she's at least trying to be more funny and stepping out of her comfort zone.

Top looks for me:
Miss Fame
Violet Chachki
Max
Pearl

In the end, Mrs Kasha Davis and Kandy Ho. Mrs Kasha Davis ended up going home. This week, yet again, I disagreed with the elimination. I'm a bit shocked about it as well. What is going on this season?

That's all for now! Check back next week for Episode 6!

Rupaul's Drag Race Season 7 Episode 2 RUVIEW

Now that everyone has had a chance to see the queens on the show, we can all start seeing their roles this season. I have a top 5 already out of the girls....well a top 4 now that one of them got sent home this episode, but we'll get into that later.

As always, the episode starts off with everyone entering the workroom after Tempest Dujour goes home, and Kandy Ho cleans off the mirror since she was in the bottom 2 along with Tempest. Everyone seems exhausted but the mood changes from calm to tense when Violet says "I hate Michelle Visage." I feel like Violet might be the villain this season because she walked in pretty sure of herself and she seems like she will push away anyone who tries to get in the way of getting that crown. And let me tell you, I am living for Violet. She doesn't seem to care if she offends someone, she just says what's on her mind and she knows shes a threat. I'm looking forward to her future shenanigans.

Quick side note: I feel a ton of tension and competition between Miss Fame and Violet and I saw this the first episode with Miss Fame and her side eye she gave Violet when Violet won the main challenge. I'm not surprised.

Next was Sasha Belle confronting Pearl and explaining what happened onstage. In the first episode, the queens had to tell Rupaul who least impressed them and why. Sasha had said Pearl because she saw Pearl as a huge threat to her. So this obviously caused some tension afterwards. Sasha had tried talking to Pearl and Pearl just blew her off which caused even more tension...as expected.

MINI CHALLENGE TIME!

This week's mini challenge was quite interesting. The Pit Crew walked in with leaf blowers and the queens had 15 minutes to get into drag and whoever gave the most face while getting blown with the leaf blower would win. There were 2 winners and they were Ginger Minj and Trixie Mattel (get it Trixie!) Because Ginger and Trixie won, they were team captains for the main challenge and got to pick who would be on their teams.

The teams were as follows:

Team Ginger: Sasha Belle, Jasmine Masters, Kasha Davis, Jaidynn Diore Fierce, Kennedy, Kandy Ho

Team Trixie: Pearl, Miss Fame (or MISS LAME according to Trixie), Katya, Max, Violet

Violet and Kandy Ho were both tense about being picked last...which I would be too. They seem like the outcasts this season. Interesting.

THE MAIN CHALLENGE

The main challenge was a musical number about an airline run by drag queens. Each team had their own number to perform and everyone was judged individually. Ginger won the challenge this week, and Sasha and Katya ended up lipsyncing. Sasha sashayed away. Here we go with my rant.

I didn't know Sasha when she was announced, but I absolutely loved her. I loved her so much she was one of my top 5 picks. I definitely encourage everyone to take the time and actually look her up and follow her because I feel like her time in the show misrepresented her. I remember seeing her Covergurlz video and I saw someone say "...well someone has to go home first...". Joke's on you because she went home second...and for the record, Sasha is amazing and she's one of the most versatile queens that was on this season and I feel angry that she went home so early because I feel she had a lot to showcase. And that's it. I was upset about this weeks elimination.

3 FAVORITE RUNWAY LOOKS THIS WEEK

Trixie: I know Jasmine and Ginger were coming for this look in Untucked and they were coming for Trixie in general but what can I say....? I'm one of those people that just GETS Trixie. Hate on it.

Pearl: Once again she slayed me with her beauty. Pearl is literally so pretty it hurts and that laid back personality with the bitch face has made me a Pearl fanatic.

Max: Max is always in character and she sold her runway look. She always wears simple but elegant clothes with a twist of old glamour. YAS MAX.

Annnddddd I think this covers this week because I really don't know what else to write besides the fact that I'm mad about Sasha Belle getting eliminated. Also, Miss Fame really needs to let loose. Don't disappoint us!

RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE SEASON 7 CAST REVIEW

I know I try to separate myself from Rupaul's Drag Race because I feel that a lot of other artists are misunderstood and underestimated, and I plan to keep it that way, but seeing all these posts about Season 7, I'm getting the urge to write a review of what I think of each queen individually. Let's start with the queen I know the best considering she performs an hour away from my house.

1. Trixie Mattel

I am absolutely IN LOVE with Trixie. When I started getting into the drag scene and the clubs around me I did research to find out who my more local queens are and I found Trixie. I've been following her for almost a year already and I'm so excited she's on this season. I feel like she brings a special twist to the stereotypical cast and she's so campy and fun. I feel like a lot of people are underestimating her and usually the underestimated ones are the ones who get the farthest. Fingers crossed for Trixie. Bless her plastic heart. :)

2. Jaidynn Diore Fierce

Oooo girl! This one has the capability to put a bitch in her place and do it with honesty and class! She's really spunky and full of energy, I can't help but love her. She reminds me of an extremely energetic and sassy Latrice Royale. Get it girl! If she goes home early I will be insanely disappointed. GIVE ME MORE!

3. Miss Fame

I cannot get enough of Miss Fame and her flawless appearance. Sometimes I wonder if she's even human or if she's a robot disguised in flawless porcelain skin. I've gotten to know Miss Fame from her well known YouTube tutorials on how to beat that face. She was in high demand to be on Drag Race and now I really hope she makes it far, because that bitch is really talented and I feel she will slay!

4. Pearl

Everyone should know who Pearl is and if you don't, you've been living under a rock. Pearl has been everywhere in the online drag scene. I found her through another queen named BibleGirl666 (I love you Bible Girl. That was a shameless shoutout). Miss Pearl is an icon who has a really chill and relaxed personality but I see her reading bitches if it needs to be done. I have high hopes for this one and she has the potential to outshine anyone who crosses her. :)

5. Sasha Belle

All I can say when I think of Ms Sasha Belle is YAASSSSSS. She's proven that she's extremely versatile and you never really know what she's going to pull out. She's another one who I have high hopes for and I can't express enough how much I admire her work. She even does these Facebook videos where she has impersonated some of the other Season 7 cast members and she's extremely funny.

6. Max Malanaphy

I've been following Max for a few months on social media. I've heard a lot of people comparing her to Milk and Sharon Needles but in my opinion her style is all her own. She mixes camp with a dash of spookiness and just a bit of high fashion. She made her drag persona an actual character in her Meet The Queens video and she's just all around interesting.

7. Jasmine Masters

Jasmine has been really underestimated by people and it's been bothering me. To me, she seems like one of the most honest and down to earth queens that will be on the show this season. She has a serious of online videos called "I have something to say..." and she's given me quite a few laughs and has showed me that honesty is the best quality one can have. I have a lot of respect for her and I think people should give her a chance.

8. Katya Zamolodchikova

Ms Katya, I am LIVING! I can already tell that she is going to be one of my favorites to watch this season. She's so creative. I was on Facebook earlier and I saw her and Trixie share a video of Katya performing "My Heart Will Go On" from the Titanic movie and it was the Russian version. She made herself the iceberg and had this strap on half Titanic boat on her shoulders and wrapped around her body. I swear it was the greatest thing ever and I feel like when it comes to out of the box creativity, she will SLAY.

9. Kasha Davis

Kasha seems so genuine and sweet. While I was watching her Meet The Queens video, she had me smiling the whole time. She's very down to earth and has a very positive attitude. I don't know too much about her yet but I feel like even if she does end up going home she will still have a hell of a career ahead of her. She's absolutely beautiful and I feel like she has the potential to take the world by storm.

10. Tempest Dujour

When I first saw the snapchat hints, I seriously thought Tempest was Miss Coco Peru. I don't think I can describe Tempest's style exactly, but let's just say she's one of those queens that you either understand or you don't. She's very camp and out of the box but still extremely gorgeous. I feel like if she ever collaborated with Miss Coco Peru, it would be absolutely EXPLOSIVE. She has experience and she knows who she is as a performer and it shows. I can't help but love her. She's going to be a threat this season in my opinion.

11. Ginger Minj

Ginger is probably going to be the sweetheart this season. I feel like she's going to maybe be the one who just wants everyone to get along. I don't see her as being really sassy unless she has to be. I feel like she reminds me of someone who just wants to make friends with everyone unless you cross her path. That being said, I don't think people should underestimate her either because I see her as being someone that will use that quality to her advantage. While everyone else is fighting I feel like she will be the one who just stays out of it and works hard on her challenges. I could be wrong but I really love her. She's a sweetheart.

12. Kandy 'Ho

Kandy is the Puerto Rican of this season! I always end up loving the Puerto Rican contestants of every season. Kandy is absolutely adorable. I've heard her name basically everywhere and I know she's a very loved queen in the drag world. Her look is very polished and I swear I need to go to Puerto Rico and drink some of their water or something because I feel that Puerto Rican Drag Queens are all so polished and beautiful. But Kandy isn't like every other Puerto Rican queen because along with her beauty comes a lot of personality and attitude as well and I love it! You go girl!

13. Violet Chachki

GIRL. I have been following Violet just as long as I have been following Max. She's absolutely gorgeous!  Her style is very high fashion and her face is always beat for the galaxies. If she ever has to lip sync for her life, she would have that performance in the bag. She can dance, she's extremely pretty, and she can most definitely perform. Hands down.

14. Kennedy Davenport

Last but certainly not least, Kennedy Davenport. I honestly didn't know much about her until she got ruvealed with the rest of the cast so I had to do my own research. I found out she appeared on the hit TV show America's Got Talent and has also done pageants. From watching her Meet The Queens video, her personality was really laid back. But it's like when she gets onstage she goes crazy and she's unstoppable. I really love that about her and I hope she translates that energy into the challenges because if she does that, she will probably steal that crown.

As you can tell, I love all 14 contestants and I can find nice things to say about each and every one of them. There are a few I knew of already and a few that I've never heard of before. I usually try to stay away from the show on this page because my page is more focused on queens that haven't been on the show. I've spoken with a few girls from the show but most of my interviews are queens that haven't been on Drag Race. This review though, it's been in high demand. Ever since the ruveal happened, I've gotten lots of messages from people asking what I thought of all the contestants. My main overall judgement is that it's going to be a close season and all of them could possibly steal that crown. There isn't one that is better than the other. I'm also going to say that I wanted to do this because I see a lot of these contestants getting underestimated and I don't exactly agree with it because everyone does their own thing. I think all of them will bring their own talents and it's going to be one hell of a season. You're all welcome!

Rupaul's Drag Race: Helping or Ruining Drag?

Recently, more so than ever, I've come to find that the Rupaul's Drag Race fandom can be pretty shady. I've never really come to understand why since we're supposed to be part of a community where everyone can be accepted for who they are...but one thing I've come across is everyone is out for themselves.

It's a huge shame, really, because drag to me means so much more than a TV show. I'm not discrediting Rupaul and he's done so much for us as a community but if anyone has noticed I really like to focus more on the culture itself rather than the TV show for a number of reasons.

One of those reasons is I don't want my page to be a shady place and I want to open people's eyes to what drag really is. If you really wake up and start doing research, you will find that drag is a variety of things and it's such a beautiful art that I've grown to love and appreciate since I started this page. I want the queens I feature to feel comfortable and to feel like they can trust me because I want to showcase them in the best light possible. I know some pages that just try and dig for scandalous information and I refuse to sell out to that for a few subscribers.

I feel like Drag Race has helped our community but it's also destroyed it. I feel that as a community we should stand together and be happy there's so much support and we should take pride in the fact that drag is a really popular thing. Let's take advantage of this opportunity, you know? But the fans of the show have really hurt each other and they treat queens like collectors items and if you don't meet as many queens as they do then they will pay you no mind. And not just any queens, Rupaul's Drag Race girls.

Here's a piece of advice:
Stop hurting each other. Stop being jealous. Stop treating this like its a competition. Learn to love drag for what it is...an art. It's an art where people should feel safe. It's not safe anymore. It's everyone bashing each other and trying to act superior. Stop it. Stand together...you aren't a drag expert because you watched a few seasons of a TV show. You should be supportive of each other. It's a family...not a war.

Another thing I wanted to address, is that some of the Drag Race girls act ungrateful and it really hurts the people that look up to them. Why would you be rude to someone who supports you? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Don't forget where you came from and who supported you from the beginning. The second you forget that is the second you will start to see people leave your side. It hurts them.

My mission with this page was to unite people and it seems like I've united some people but it's also cost me some friendships I thought I had as well. And if someone is treating you badly because you are out there making a name for yourself, they don't deserve your time. The queens and artists I feature mean more to me than anyone will ever know and I do this to help myself as well as other people learn more about them. I use my page to promote and help, not to ruin someone's career.

I try to focus on the positive aspects of the drag world and the wonderful artists who put so much work into what they do. I take a lot of pride in that and I'm really tired of the shade and jealousy in the drag community. This includes the fans.

That's all I have to say about this topic. If you have any suggestions on what I should write about next, please contact me:
