Ivanaha Fusionn: Be Sexy, Be True, Be Wild, Be You

Ivanaha Fusionn is a queen who currently resides in Oregon but she has a burning passion for Russia and a love for traveling. She hopes to get cast on the TV Show Rupaul's Drag Race so she can get her name out in the community more and open a bar with her Fiancé in the near future. She eventually wants to settle down with kids as well. She is also the owner of Lipstick Divas and NW Fierce.

1. Who is Ivanaha Fusionn?

Ivahna is someone who really loves the glitter and the sparkle...the costumes are very different. Ivahna also demands attention and she has to be the center of attention. She really loves to be in the spotlight. Lately I've been stepping outside of my comfort zone and I usually make a lot of the things I wear at home.

2. Do you have a drag family?

I used to have a drag family in Utah but they weren't the best drag family for me so I broke off and started my own family. So I was by myself and I taught myself everything through tutorials on YouTube. After that I came to Portland, Oregon and met my only drag daughter who has only been doing drag for about a year.

3. Where did you get your drag name from?

It's not that interesting of a story. I just went online and looked up Russian names because I'm obsessed with Russia. That's where I got Ivanaha and I chose it because I never heard that name before that. I was Ivanaha Star because that was my drag family's name but when I broke away from that family I came up with Fusionn because purple is my favorite color and it just came together.

4. What is your most embarrassing moment?

When I was at my second pageant ever, I was doing my talent number and I wanted to make the end of it memorable and I got stage fright and I ended up just belly flopping on the stage and that was the end of that performance.

5. What is the most expensive drag item that you own?

My evening gown that I bought for my first pageant which was originally $900.

6. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

That would have to be Russia.

7. If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be and why?

That would probably have to be HIV/AIDS because it affects a lot of people and it just ruins them.

8. Do you think Rupaul's Drag Race has helped the drag community or do you think it has ruined it?

I'm kind of torn. In a way the show has helped the community as far as getting drag out in the open more but it's also ruined it and made it a competition. I've dealt with a lot of Rupaul girls. There are some that are fun to work with the first time but then after that they start to think they're the big divas just because they were on TV.

9. Would you ever audition for drag race?

Yes I would. I've auditioned 2 times already and this will be my 3rd time trying out for the show.

10. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

Shannel because every time I've seen her with her outfits, her hair, her makeup...she's always been flawless and on point. When I met her on the Rupauls Drag Race cruise last year I was completely star struck. I saw her walking up and I grabbed my fiancé and he didn't know what was wrong with me. I was so nervous. When I met her on the boat she remembered me from Facebook and she's just really nice.

11. What do you like to do in your free time?

What free time? If I'm not doing drag or anything related to drag I just usually hang out with my fiancé and we like to go to the movies, camping, staying at home, hanging out with friends. We're both small town people and neither of us like the big city.

12. What is your favorite song to perform to?

I have this Burlesque song that I love to perform to and my fiancé gets mad at me because he thinks I perform it too much.

13. What was it like coming out to your family?

It was honestly my moms fault because I knew I was gay since I was like 3 years old because I would wear blankets as dresses and I would do those kinds of things. I've always been a bit femme and I always have gotten made fun of for it. I was hanging out with different people who weren't part of my parent's religion and they just seemed to notice and they sat me down and asked me if I was gay and I said I was. The next day I had an intervention with my grandparents and my parents and it was a really rough patch for about a year. It took them about 4 years to start getting used to everything and they're still working on accepting it fully.

14. Introvert or extrovert?

When I'm getting ready I like being alone and by myself. When I'm booking and planning events I just like doing that myself so I know that it gets done and I don't have to rely on other people. But when I do work with other people I like learning about different types of drag because there isn't one way to do drag. What works for one queen won't work for another queen. Everyone just does their own thing.

15. Where do you see yourself in the future?

I really would love to get on Rupaul's Drag Race so I could get my name out there and travel the world because I really love traveling. My fiancé and I want to open up a bar so getting my name out there would help out a lot with that. I would also like to have a couple kids because I consider myself a family person.

BibleGirl666: Cliterally Unique

When thinking of the Bible, one wouldn't automatically think of a drag queen. BibleGirl666 is out to change that. With her unique style of makeup, a variety of drag inspirations, and interactive performances, she plans on getting on Rupaul's Drag Race and the rest will be herstory. With her hard work and fun personality, there's no doubt this queen will become a huge name in the future.

1. Describe your drag persona.

BibleGirl is honest and stupid. What I love about her character is that there is no affectation or facade where she's trying to be anybody else but herself. As Zack, I tried to implement myself as a person into Bible and didn't want to lose any elements of who I am.

2. Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

Britney Spears, without a doubt! I love Britney to death for everything she has brought to the table since the start of her career. She has proven time after time, over and over that no matter how far you've been knocked down in life: you can always bounce back and rise like a phoenix from the ashes and KICK ASS! She's also one of the most beautiful women to have ever existed, to be completely honest.

3. What inspires your makeup?

There are 3 key inspirations that inspire my aesthetic and makeup. My biggest drag inspirations are Britney Spears, the Bride of Chucky, and Princess Peach. With those characters in mind, I pick little bits and pieces that I specifically love from each one and turn them into the Frankenstein that is BibleGirl.

The large eye makeup was initially a mistake, I was using a white eyeliner pencil while getting ready one night and it completely slipped into where my eye socket is. I really liked the shape that it had made so I made it symmetrical on the other side as well, and the rest is history in that regard! Now I've taken that large eye makeup and have gradually evolved it into something that  is a bit more fully realized, re: the Bride of Chucky/Princess Peach. Both ladies have acted as female icons and role models for me since I was a little kid. I always had an infatuation with all things hyper-feminine, which then progressed into my mall-goth phase- I still loved the little girly things, but craved an edge. That's where "the Bride", Tiffany, came into play in middle school, onward.

Britney has just always been there for me in life and is my end-all-be-all hero and inspiration. I try to mimic a lot of her facial features with my makeup but I try to keep it 100% Bible versus Britney impersonator. I love her outwardly drooping sad looking eyes, so I create that shape with mine regardless of them being super big or small (which varies quite often now). I also love her cute button nose! I tried to do the whole bitchy, cunty, sharp angled nose and it just didn't work for my face. The second I started to really pay attention to Brit's mug, I tried her nose out and LOVED IT! There's no going back!

4. Where did "cliterally" come from?

It's just a word that one of my best friends and I came up with because we're complete assholes. ;)

5. When and why did you start doing drag?

I started drag on Halloween of 2013. I started it because I wanted to be a part of the movement that drag stands for in which it throws all gender norms out the window and says, "fuck it"- whether it's direct or not, I love that drag manages to still do just that.

6. If you could pick one performance that you've ever done that is your personal favorite, which one would it be?

My favorite performance would definitely be in Chicago back in the beginning of this past October. I was at Whiskey Trust in Boystown for Sissy Spastik's show, Mannequin. I debuted a performance that I've turned into a regular number now, which is a mashup of Britney Spears' Lucky and Iggy Azalea's Fancy. The crowd LOVED it, the energy was ELECTRIC, and I'll never forget it!

7. What was it like growing up?

Growing up was pretty simple. I wasn't a party girl. I grew up fairly sheltered and did well in school. I moved all over as a kid though. Born in Florida, then moved over to New Jersey, back to Florida, and then settled on Long Island (where my parents grew up), and then I moved out to NYC for school. I moved several times within each state though.

8. What is the biggest lesson you've learned regarding your drag career?

Just be yourself. Don't try to give people anything else but 100% YOU!

9. Have you ever considered auditioning for Rupaul's Drag Race?

Yes, I have! Gearing up for the audition process as we speak!

10. Have you ever been star struck when meeting someone? If so, who was it?

I've absolutely been starstruck- I would definitely say when I had first met Sharon Needles and Alaska Thunderfuck which was at the point where I was old enough to fathom that I was in the midst of people that I really looked up to.

11. What is your guilty pleasure?

Binge watching cartoons such as Adventure Time, Over The Garden Wall, and Regular Show.

12. What is your most embarrassing moment?

My first drag performance.

13. What is your favorite Britney Spears song?

Get Naked (I Got a Plan)

14. What is your favorite childhood memory?

First moving to Long Island at age 15 and loving how brand new and fresh it was in comparison to living in suburban Florida.

15. Do you have any secret talents?

Eating shit all the time when I'm out in drag.

Kay Daver: Goth Kid At Heart

Kay Daver is a queen from Australia with a dark side. She describes herself as "a goth kid at heart, but a heart for drag" and always puts on a show with beauty and poise.

1. Who is Kay Daver?

Kay is just a simple girl who was caught in a lovers affair, with both of her lovers killing each other she couldn't deal with this heart ache and killed herself.

2. In your opinion, what is it that makes you unique compared to other queens?

I don't personally think I'm that different from many other queens. There is many darker drag queen characters and many that have chest pieces. I guess id say I'm unique in a way due to the fact that i have not had anyone really sit me down and show me how things are done and I have had to figure it all out myself.

3. How is Australian drag different from the rest of the world?

The first thing that comes to mind is normally tips, We don't earn tips here, its all invoiced. I can't say that Australian drag is more polished, but it does pump out some amazingly talented queens thats for sure. The drag scene in Australia is slowly changing since Rupauls Drag race and the ease of social media to share other peoples styles. I have found that Most Ozzie girls are now starting to take more inspiration from overseas girls which is great!

4. Do you have a drag family?

Drag families in Australia are very different to those in say America, Normally a family in America (From my understanding) Is more like a drag mother who has all her children who are intern sisters. Here we just mainly have sisters. I have a few people I consider drag family such as Delia Cards, Shae Dee, Fran Giapanni, Kimberly Heart and Venus D'Luna just to name a few

5. Who is your biggest inspiration?

Its always hard to narrow a question like this down. I don't generally get inspiration from people, I get it from many different things such as music, movies, pictures, sounds and sometimes even smells. But if i had to narrow it down to a person I would have to say Sharon Needles. Being a goth kid at heart I always had a heart for drag, but didn't know that a "dark" drag could exist as all i ever saw around here was camp and pretty queens.

6. What is your favorite/least favorite part about drag?

My favourite part of drag would have to be the prep work, I love doing the makeup, Styling the wig and making costumes. I find this the best as its the way that I express my artwork.

Its going to sound stupid but my least favourite thing about being in drag is a combination of doing my makeup (As i always want it to be instant) and also being in drag.

7. When and why did you decide to start drag?

I started drag on 17 March 2012. It was my 21st birthday, I had no bloody clue what to do so I decided to have a "drag queen" party. From that point i fell in love. I didn't look crash hot as i tried to do my own makeup, Got extremely drunk and had to get my mother to try and slap the rest on for me!

8. What is something you wish you could change about yourself?

I don't really wish to change much about myself, Id probably change my body image (Not that i have any real issues with my body, I just think i could change my body shape a little). I don't think id really want to change anything else about myself.

9. What is one thing not a lot of people know about you?

Not many people know about my self doubt/confidence. I know that we are always our hardest critic but I always question if i am good enough, or if a look was good enough no matter how much positive feedback I receive.

10. Do you have a most embarrassing moment?

I guess we all have many embarrassing moments. I guess the worst i can remember was when i had to perform to an audience of about 20-30 people. I talked to the event manager who told me that I was on stage in 10 minutes.
As I had had a few drinks that night I thought i would have enough time to go to the toilet. I ran to the loo, took out my hip pads, untucked and started to do my business, Just as i start I hear my spot number come on, Had to stop half way through going to the loo. Do a mash tuck (Where you just kinda mash everything back and not really tuck correctly, I didn't get enough time to put my hip pads back in and i grabbed my powder (Which i use for my spot number, but normally empty out a bit into my hand - which i didn't have time to do).

I quickly run onto stage just 1 line late (Thank god it wasn't much more… i guess) started the routine and right after I do my first turn i normally blow the powered out, Instead I do the turn all the powder falls out of the container and falls all over my outfit and it looked as if i had basically rushed out of the toilet after doing some blow and didn't put the lid on the storage container.

Needless to say, I have not performed while that intoxicated, nor have i gone to the toilet before a spot number since.

11. If you could wish for anything in the world, what would it be and why?

It would either to be less self indulgent or as corny as it sounds world peace.

12. If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

Is super brainiac a super power? I would want to be extra super-dooper smart. That way I could use it to possibly get other powers, or invent the other powers like time travel and invisibility. Or is that cheating? Hahaha If it is I'd still want to be super smart.

13. What is your favorite song to perform to? Is there a specific reason for that?

My favourite song to perform to would have to be "My Immortal" by Evanescence. Although this is my most hated Evanescence song its the first song that I have personally been able to connect with and I fell that each time I perform this song I am really giving the audience all that I have.

14. What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you regarding drag?

Be prepared to spend a lot of money, be hooked and most likely cry yourself to sleep at night over the stupidest things, But remember that drag is fun and will only be as rewarding as you let it be.

15. If you had a chance to travel somewhere, where would you go and why?

Everyone always says America. All the time. It is always a place I would love to do drag but deep down I would love to go to Japan or China just to stir things up!

Ari Ola: Not Just Another Pretty Face

Ari Ola is a queen from Rhode Island who loves talking to her admirers and is set out to make a difference. With her drag, she wants to reach out and help fight society's injustices and she wants to be that voice that some people don't have. She is obviously not even close to finishing leaving her mark on this world yet and it's so refreshing to see someone who wants to reach out to the younger generation and guide them.

1. Who is Ari Ola?

Ari Ola is a model, a spokesperson, an advocate, she's really crazy and she just wants to make everyone really happy.

2. Where did your drag name originate from?

So my drag mom is Anaol Fetale, and I knew her about 2 years before I started drag. I originally met her on Grindr which is really funny. She lived a little bit north of Providence. Not many people used Grindr because it was still new. I lived in Connecticut at the time so the drive from my house to her house was about an hour. I didn't want to drive an hour to see her and we kind of stopped talking but we were still friends on Facebook. So I would see her pictures on my Facebook all the time and I would always like them. When I moved closer to where she lived we became best friends. She introduced me to drag. I was driving her back to her house from one of her performances one day and we were talking about if I were a drag queen what my drag name would be. We were going back and forth and I wanted to make it similar to her name because we decided I would be her drag daughter. When I was growing up, my favorite movie was "Not Another Teen Movie" and the naked foreign exchange student's name in that movie was Areola and she was naked and she had really big boobs. So I went to Anaol and said "what about Areola?" And she said "no what about Ari Ola?" So it just stuck with me. I didn't actually become a drag queen until 2 years after that happened.

3. Do you have a drag family?

It's just me and Anaol. I think Anaol has another drag daughter but I think I only met her one time and I'm not sure if she even does drag anymore. I have drag "sisters" but I wouldn't call them my family, they're just my really good drag friends which I only have one or two of. It's really just me and Anaol and we've been each other's support. I don't want to take on a drag daughter unless I get on Rupaul's Drag Race and I can afford one because I would want them to come with me to all my shows.

4. What is the best piece of advice you've gotten regarding your drag career?

When I first started drag, I was the spooky queen. My inspiration was Sharon Needles. I wanted to be this very spooky, dark, gothic, bloody queen. So I would always do a lot of scary looks. I would do a lot of demon looks. I would paint my whole body black and I would have gold contacts and gold highlights and it was really cool. But my friend Lilly one day pulled me aside and said "girl you have such a beautiful face that if you would do more fishy looks and you were a more fishy queen, nothing would ever get in your way and no one would ever be able to stop you." So after that night I stopped doing scary looks and started doing more fishy looks. At first I had a really harsh nose contour and a harsh cheek contour. I was looking pretty but I was also looking really harsh. But over time it's become my new drag style to be fishy. I don't think I would've ever gone in that direction if it had not been for Lilly.

5. Who is your biggest inspiration?

Well when I first started drag it was definitely Sharon Needles. But I think Anaol has been a huge inspiration for me because every time I go over to her house she is always working on something and she has a drag workshop and she literally is sewing wigs in one corner and she's seeing an outfit in another corner and she's teasing a wig in another corner. She always has everything so planned out. Every time I spend time at her house I always come back home and start working on my own drag projects. I also look at myself as a drag inspiration. I drive myself really hard. I always end up whipping my ass into shape if I ever stop working.

6. If you could work with anyone, who would you choose and why?

The one person I would want to work with more than anyone else in the world is Sarah Michelle Gellar. When I was 5 years old I started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I had the biggest crush on her. Like if anyone has ever had a crush on anything in the world...and so I just love her. She's such a great actress. I would definitely do anything to meet that girl and if I ever got to work with her I would probably puke.

7. What is your favorite song to perform to?

I would have to say that the song I get the most pleasure out of performing is "Cannibal" by Ke$ha. It's such a stupid song but every time I perform it I always do a really bloody and disgusting number to it. I usually do soft performances but last Halloween I did "Cannibal" by Ke$ha and I ate a real cows heart onstage. I dance really well to that song but it's about eating real people alive so it's just a great song to perform.

8. What does the idea of drag mean to you?

I can't really define drag. I don't think I ever could. I guess to me, drag is a really beautiful art form that allows people to break these barriers that society kind of set upon them. It's something where people can come out and be whatever their darkest and most beautiful fantasies are and they can be themselves and make themselves feel really good in their skin. I don't think society really lets people do that. So I think drag is something really powerful that can be a really beautiful escape for a lot of people.

9. Have you ever experienced a time where you completely doubted yourself? How did you overcome it?

I was actually going to quit drag a couple months ago and this is actually a really funny story. St Patrick's Day 2014, I was in Newport, Rhode Island and me and my boyfriend decided to do mushrooms. If you've ever been to the St Patrick's Day celebration there it is literally the craziest thing you could ever see. There's a bunch of Irish people and they're drunk. There's a bunch of 14 year old kids and they're drunk. I remember these packs of little 14 year old girls with halter tops on and they were taking selfies and it was a gang of these girls in all green. So Newport is a really beautiful town and there's giant mansions and it's right on the ocean and it's just a beautiful and very rich town. So to see these huge groups of people in a sea of green in this beautiful town is very disorienting on its own. To top it off, this St Patrick's Day was so wild that people were literally going into stranger's houses. Me and my boyfriend were in some strange person's house that we didn't know and people were just chilling out and drinking alcohol and everyone was drunk and it was the craziest thing ever. So we left and we broke away from this giant mass of crazed people. We went up on this hill, and when we got to the hill the mushrooms start kicking in and the world just becomes the most beautiful place that I've ever seen. It was really like an Alice in Wonderland world that I had seen on St Patrick's Day. I saw this gorgeous story with these mansions and the mansions were these beautiful creatures to me and I saw this crazy story play out in front of me and it was so cool. So at the end of St Patrick's Day, we were driving home and we saw the ocean. The ocean on mushrooms is beautiful and it looked like this crazy and giant universe and it was really crazy. So I got home and I went to sleep and I woke up and I'm kind of remembering the world as what I saw it as. I was really bummed that the world wasn't as beautiful as I thought it was when I was on mushrooms. So I got really depressed that day and I started thinking that my drag was horrible and that I would never be able to fulfill these beautiful fantasies because I didn't have the money to put into these beautiful performances and these beautiful visions I had in my head. On top of it people were being really bitchy to me that day and I decided that I was going to quit drag. I posted on Facebook that I was quitting drag and that I was selling my stuff and I posted pictures of all of it. It was the craziest thing that I had this really big outpouring of people all over my Facebook and I had hundreds of messages and everyone was telling me that I couldn't quit drag and that I was such a good performer. I had people posting on my wall. I had so many people just reaching out to me because I was going to quit drag and I realized that I actually touched people that much that they cards that much about me quitting drag. I decided I just couldn't let that many people down. I also have a lot of young people messaging me saying that I'm their inspiration because I talk to a lot of my fans and I just couldn't let those people down. So I just got over my pathetic sadness that I created for myself and here I am today.

10. What is your biggest fear?

I think my biggest fear is being restricted and having restrictions put on me and adhering myself to a normal life. Whenever I think about working a 9 to 5 job and buying house with a white picket fence and working my ass off just to make ends meet...it just gives me the biggest anxiety ever. Sometimes I cry thinking if that's my life that it's just horrible and I can't. So I guess my biggest fear is not making it with my art. If I don't somehow get recognized or get on TV that it would have to mean that I would have to live this normal life and it's scary for me to think about.

11. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to be part of some organization where I can help people end the social injustices of the world because there's a lot of them. I think that LGBTQ youth is a very big problem in this country like they're facing a lot of problems. I also think there's a lot of ther social injustices like I think racism is still a very big thing. There's so much wrong with this society that I just have so many issues with so I just want to speak out and educate people about them. And if that then some type of politics so that I will at least have some kind of platform to educate people about the shit that's going on in the world. It's just crazy to me how this society is working right now and I just want to tell people about it so bad.

12. What is your biggest accomplishment?

I guess my biggest accomplishment is just getting this far in my drag. I just feel like I'm in a really good place on where I brought myself because I didn't have a lot of help with my drag. Also where I am in my life right now is a big accomplishment for me because I'm on my own and I live on my own and I'm really happy and I have a great job and I'm just doing really great with my drag career. A lot of people think I'm going to be on Season 8 of Drag Race. I'm just in a really good place and I'm really happy.

13. If you could change one thing about the drag community, what would it be and why?

I would change the bitchiness. Not even the bitchiness but the pure ignorance because there's so many ignorant queens and there's so many people that don't realize the opportunities that we have. Drag queens are such a hot thing right now and we have so many eyes on us at the moment that we didn't have before. Rupaul's Drag Race has really brought drag into the mainstream and so many queens don't understand the power that comes with it. We have at least some kind of a platform and we can really do a lot more with our drag. I feel like a lot of drag queens could really take advantage of their drag a lot more and it's just a very ignorant community. There's obviously a lot of really intelligent queens but I see a lot of queens just be really ignorant.

14. If you could have any super power, which would you pick and why?

Oh my gosh! You don't know how many times I've thought about this! I think about this all the time which is why I can't really have an answer for you. I can tell you that if I was a super villain, I would want to be able to control parasites. Mainly because I would be able to reach so much goddamn havoc on the world because I would kind of be murderous. But I would also infect some people with the virus that gave them elephantitus. I would infect some people with ringworm. I would just go around and fuck with people. It wouldn't be trackable. Do you know how many parasites there are? There's like a trillion parasites on this earth. So if I did that I would be very powerful. But if I was a good person and I was a superhero, my super power would have to be the ability to grant wishes...but only for me. If I had the ability to grant wishes for myself then I could wish that I had the ability to fly and I would be able to fly. I could wish that I was the most beautiful person on earth. I could wish that I could make people fall in love with me...the possibilities are endless if all my wishes could come true.

15. What do you think about the Facebook Real Name policy and have you been affected by it at all?

I think it's crazy. I was affected by this, girl. So I had my personal Facebook page. I had one page as my boy account and one for Ari Ola. I had this goddamn drag page since I became a drag queen and I made that page in December of 2012. I built this page from the ground up and I eventually had 4,700 friends in a year and a half. I really didn't request that many people but they all requested me. So I logged into Facebook one day and they told me I had to change my name to my real name. I started freaking out because that page was my everything and I was livid. So I tried to contact Facebook, I tried searching for a number to call and it's automated and I literally went crazy. I literally went on my page and I turned off advertising and I eventually turned my name to "Ari Hola". I tried as hard as I could but I couldn't get my name back so I converted my Facebook page into a fan page and it converted all my friends to likes. It was really inconvenient and there's no way for me to get it back. They took all of my photos so I had to take all my photos and save them to my computer because once you convert your page, Facebook deletes all your photos except for your cover photo and your profile photo. I literally lost everything. I lost hundreds of photos. And my photos on my fan page don't get as many likes because Facebook makes you pay money to get seen in the newsfeed.
