Rupaul's Drag Race Season 7 Episode 4 RUVIEW

Lots of T will be spilled in this specific review of this week's episode, so let's just jump right into this. Episode 4 was an extremely big pill for me to swallow and I feel like I completely disagreed with the outcome of this episode.

There wasn't a mini challenge this week. Rupaul had the girls jump right into the main challenge. He had the girls divide themselves into 3 groups and each group got a Rupaul song that they had to write, record, and make a music video parody for. The teams were as follows:

Ginger Minj, Kennedy Davenport, Kasha Davis, Kandy Ho
Got "Let The Music Play" and turned it into "I Got Paid" talking about Rupaul's accomplishments and poking fun at her.

Trixie Mattel, Pearl, Katya, Miss Fame
Got "Dance With You" and turned it into "Tan With You"
Beach scene with massive sunburn and severe tan lines.

Jaidynn Diore, Max, Violet
Got "Sissy That Walk" and turned it into "Get Ready To Clock"
Made a parody of the "Sissy That Walk" music video where Violet was Adore, Jaidynn was Bianca, and Max was Courtney Act.

During the preparation, the teams are obviously clashing with their ideas...especially Trixie's group and Violet's group. Pearl and Miss Fame were going head to head about ideas regarding the theme and Max and Violet seemed to clash a bit. Honestly Violet clashes with pretty much everyone so I wasn't too shocked because she says what she's thinking and that's it. When the recording was happening, I felt that Jaidynn did excellent because she seemed to really grasp the concept and her playing Bianca was absolutely genius. She slayed. Period.

Now it's time for each team to film the music video and first up was Jaidynn's group. The only one who seemed to have any trouble was Max. Max was trying to channel some Courtney Act realness and it's hard to make Courtney funny. Other than that, Violet was brilliant as Adore and she seemed to really embody the personality well. Jaidynn basically was Bianca...to a T. Jaidynn was absolutely flawless in this challenge. You go girl.

Next was Ginger's group and I mean...I felt they could've been more clever with it. I mean some of it was funny but it wasn't really my cup of tea. Let's be honest. I loved Kasha's voice though because she did full camp which is what she's good at. Ginger is always hilarious to me and I don't think that will ever change. Kandy kind of faded into the background.

Last was Trixie's group and they basically did a beach themed video about tanning too much. I don't know exactly what happened to Trixie in this challenge but she seemed so nervous and confused. I think it was mainly nerves. Katya was absolutely brilliant...this challenge was right up her alley and she chopped it up and served it on a gold platter. Once again Rupaul got on Pearl's case for being too chill and it's starting to bother me. Miss Fame's most defining moment was when they were trying to figure out a scene and she laid out a towel and said "it would be great if we could all roll like rotisserie chicken." Oh Miss Fame and her chickens. Geez.

Kennedy talked about Sahara Davenport while getting ready for the runway. Rest in peace, girl.

I want to say that I wasn't all about Violet's look until I watched the episode more than once and then I was like crazy over it. Violet serves the runways every week. Period.

My favorite was "Get Ready To Clock" because I thought Jaidynn tied it together with her impersonation of Bianca Del Rio. If I didn't know better I would say she was Bianca. Good job girlfriend. Absolutely slayed it.


Kennedy ended up winning. I was really feeling Kennedy's vibe when she came on the show but now I'm not really sure anymore what to think. With this particular challenge, I feel the win should've went to Jaidynn just because she really nailed her part and she was hilarious. Katya was also brilliant...so either Katya or Jaidynn should've won. That's just my perception.

And here come the feelings. :(

First critique tonight went to Pearl. Pearl was once again getting thrown under the bus for not coming out of her shell. Michelle called her a stoner and Pearl defended herself. I am really getting pretty annoyed with the judges critiques of her because I know the relaxed vibe is just who Pearl is.

Next was Trixie. The judges basically built her up and called her funny but then shot her down saying she doesn't stand out enough. I completely disagreed with that and maybe it's because I see what Trixie is capable of and I get her and her drag. It disappointed me how it wasn't good enough. I get during the filming of the music video she was nervous but don't completely throw her under the bus for not being funny and saying you don't know who she is.

Max was called out for the grey hair which I knew she eventually would be. I disagree because Max is a character and if she's forced to be "versatile" I feel she might lose sight of herself and her character. I thought it was rude.

Violet was critiqued because she apparently didn't do enough for playing the character of Adore Delano. For the record, I loved Violet's impersonation of Adore and I thought she did all that she could've done.

Kandy's critiques...I agree with her blending into the background. What I don't agree with is the fact that, yes, she wears pretty dresses. That's just her drag and how she is. I thought she looked pretty this week and she improved her makeup. I just wish she would stop blending into the background.

Ms Kasha Davis was the last one to get critiqued and it was mainly about her singing. I thought she played up the camp in her singing and she had me rolling of laughter. I didn't really care for her runway look though.

In the very end, Rupaul decides to put Trixie and Pearl against each other in the lip sync. This is where things get sticky for me because I love both these queens so much. Pearl is someone I've completely fallen in love with this season. Trixie I've been following for a little over a year and I've always been so impressed with her and her style. So this happening really had me torn apart. Trixie ended up going home and Pearl stayed. I didn't want either of them to go home and I don't think either of them deserved to be in the bottom. It was also really hard for me to watch because they're friends outside of the show and they've worked together before and to see two friends against each other like that and see how they're forced to send someone home is a tough thing. After the lip sync was over, Pearl broke down and cried and Trixie walked out with a smile on her face and she held herself together really well. This episode had me crying at the end, I'm not going to lie...because not only did my favorite go home but seeing Pearl cry was heart breaking.

Drag Race was very disappointing this week and I wish it would've went differently.

Rupaul's Drag Race Season 7 Episode 3 Ruview

Alright kittens, time to sink my teeth into episode 3 because I have a lot to say!

Let's start with post- elimination after Sasha Belle left...the beginning of the episode when everyone was getting out of drag, Jasmine and Kennedy were in their own corner talking about the younger contestants which included Miss Fame, Trixie, Pearl, and Violet. This is where I must say I think Kennedy is a fierce performer and Jasmine is always saying whats on her mind, but girl, I did lose a lot of respect for these two this episode. It's not because Trixie is my favorite...it's the fact that there is more than one aesthetic of drag. I'm not even a drag artist and I know that. If you walk into that competition with a bad attitude and a fixated view on what drag is, then I don't think you will get too far. From what I've seen, the competition puts a variety of queens together and forces them to work through every situation that will be thrown at them no matter how absurd and outlandish the situation is and make them put something together on a moments notice and pray for the best. That's my understanding of it anyways. I've gotten to know a lot of young artists who work just as hard (if not, harder) as any older queens out there and how dare you discredit young artists like that. Girl, let me tell you I'm already heated about this episode in the first 5 minutes. Moving on.

The mini challenge was called "SISSY THAT WALKER" and the girls had 15 minutes to get into costume and they had to make themselves look like old women and have a dance off....granny style. The 2 champions of this were Max and Kennedy which means they were team captains for the main challenge. This is where it gets real interesting. Max picked her team very carefully and it was obvious. Kennedy seemed very bitter this episode so I feel instead of evening her team out, she picked some people she knew wouldn't be the best at theater thinking that it would make her prevail in the end...boy did that backfire REALLY QUICK. Also, Kennedy picked Jasmine...and it always happens every season...someone picks teams based on friendships and it always backfires. The teams were as follows:

Team Max: Trixie, Miss Fame, Ginger Minj, Ms Kasha Davis, Jaidynn

Team Kennedy: Jasmine Masters, Katya, Pearl, Kandy Ho, Violet Chachki

Each team got a remake of a Shakespeare play. Team Kennedy got "MACBITCH" and Team Max got "ROMY & JULIET". The teams started rehearsing and it's like right away you could already tell who was going to have their shit together. As I said earlier, I noticed Kennedy was a bit bitter this episode and instead of putting whatever negative feelings she had aside to FOCUS on the task at hand, she started trying to humiliate Violet when everyone was reading over their lines. Violet was already bitter for being picked last yet again. As much as I love Violet, I feel the reasoning for getting picked last is because she's been the bitch of the season and no one likes that. But I do really love Violet...bitchiness and all. Anyways, right away Jasmine is trying to overpower the group and Kennedy just let her pick her part which I completely disagreed with. We all know from the beginning that Violet should've automatically had the bitchiest part in the play. Kennedy gave it to Jasmine at first when I thought Jasmine should've been the ghetto girl. Kennedy gave Violet the ghetto girl part and Jasmine the bitch part. BIG MISTAKE. As time goes on and the clock is ticking, not only is Kennedy making everyone learn their lines separately but she changes her mind last minute and switches Violet and Jasmine which messes everything up and they didn't have much time to learn their lines. Team Max on the other hand seemed to work together well. Max obviously picked his team using a strategy and most of his team had lots of theater experience. WELL DONE MAX.


First to perform their play in front of Mama Ru and Michelle was Team Max. Overall they did pretty well. They messed up a few lines and Jaidynn had a bit of a breakdown but after that, they seemed to really pull it together and make everything work. One thing I really admired about Max's team was how encouraging Max was as a team leader. She really just wanted everyone to succeed and when Jaidynn was having a breakdown she talked to her until she could pull herself together and encouraged her...which I just really admired. That's what a team should be...not bringing everyone down and purposely making people fail. Props to Team Max for making everything work and participating in actual TEAM WORK.

Next was obviously Team Kennedy. Where do I begin? Let's start off by saying it was a bit of a train-wreck. Round of applause for Katya though because I felt she was the strong link in the whole entire thing. Pearl was just being herself and no matter how terrible their play was...she did have me entertained. I remember at one point she walked into a bush and I about died. Violet did pretty well considering she had basically no time to learn her lines. Jasmine was an absolute mess. Kennedy and Kandy didn't know their cues. Props to Violet and Katya though. Even Rupaul said their play was the worst train-wreck in the history of the show. That's not good. Moving on.

I just want to say this about the workroom getting ready for elimination day...once again they show Jasmine talking about drag aesthetic and once again I find myself rolling my eyes. Moving on.

For this particular episode, Rupaul asked the queens to do bearded lady looks. Instead of a top 3, I'm just going to name off my favorites because some of these bitches nailed it and I can't pick just 3.

1. Katya- SLAYED

2. Max- Tim Burton inspired looks always capture my heart.

3. Trixie- Serving Jesus realness and those wings were made of plastic spoons. YAS.

4. Pearl- Used unconventional items for her beard and did an evil but sexy look. IT WORKED FOR HER.

5. Miss Fame- I didn't know how she would do but I thought she looked stunning!

6. Violet- Absolutely breathtaking as always. 1950s Dior inspired. EVERYTHING.

Rupaul showed the videos of the plays. Team Max prevailed...obviously. Max also won the main challenge which I agreed with and she absolutely rocks as a team leader. Round of applause for Max.

Team Max got sent backstage and Team Kennedy was onstage to hear critiques because all of them were in the bottom. Rupaul went down the line and everyone got their critiques. Kennedy was called out for being a terrible leader. Jasmine said she knew her lines and Rupaul called her out as well. Pearl was told to wake up because Rupaul didn't see her living up to her full potential. Rupaul basically called everyone out for having excuses.

In the end Kennedy and Jasmine had to lip sync which I completely agreed with. Jasmine went home...which I completely agreed with. Bye Jasmine.

Quick note: I AM SO PROUD OF MISS FAME. I feel like she is finally starting to loosen up and show a more silly side of herself and it makes me so happy to see that.

UNTUCKED: I usually don't include Untucked in these reviews because I feel like there isn't much happening but GIRL. I knew once Violet had the opportunity she was going to say something about Kennedy, which she did. Her and Kennedy got into an argument in which Kennedy was trying to say that it wasn't her fault that so many people on the team failed. Yes, Kennedy, it was. You picked your team based on feelings. Stupid move. VERY stupid move. If you want to win, pick very strategically and throw friendships out of the window because during challenges, it doesn't matter.


That concludes this week. Sorry this is so long but I had a lot of feelings to put out there. This was the first elimination I 100%  fully agreed with this season.

10 Makeup Techniques Drag Queens Need to Change By James Majesty

I pride myself in being a makeup artist, but by no means do I consider myself the best. These tips and tricks are techniques I've learned from being in the beauty industry; from stage & screen to behind the counter.  

Originality

Stop being Raven. She's drop dead gorgeous, but her face is her trademark. In fact STOP copying anybody from RPDR or ANYWHERE! 

The art of drag is how you create your own character and persona...so let yourself evolve into you...no cookie cutter drag allowed. 

Beard Coverage

If you can't shave close enough you need to camouflage your five o'clock shadow. The best way to conceal a grey undertone is to use an orange cream underneath your foundation and then apply your cream foundation over the Orange with a "patting" application, not smearing or blending. 

Contouring

Nobody wants to be Snookie! 

Often queens use bronzer as a contour, STOP! If you have light-medium skin you need a contour color that has a grey undertone. If you are very pale you can even use straight grey, but be careful not to blend it to where you look you have beard shadow!  If you have medium-dark skin you need a neutral-olive undertone... Don't use grey in this situation because you don't want to be ashy! 

Always use a Matte contour, shimmer is a sin!

Highlight 

If you have light skin using a pink highlight is the brightest option other than white. 

Medium skin looks best with a yellow highlight! 

And darker skin is most flattering when using an orange(ish) highlight! 

Shimmer isn't often flattering. Matte highlight is best! 

Blush

This one is easy! Use the color of your choice! The blush should go between the contours and highlights of your facial structure. On the cheekbones and very lightly above the brow...don't get too crazy! 

BOOOOOOOOBS 

The contours of the breasts should be darker in the center and gradually fade lighter towards the clavicles. The highlight between the breasts should match the highlight color on your forehead. You can also add blush right under your clavicles to give some life to your chest, but be careful to apply it lightly. 

Hair Line

Blend Girl BLEND! 

If you can't afford a lacefront wig...there are options! 

  A) Use shadow to blend the line. 

  B) Back comb the front. 

  C) Don't buy a cheap wig!

Lip Liner

You must wear it if you plan on over drawing your lips. 

The darker liner outside your natural lip line that fades to your natural lip line creates a more realist looking dimension. If you don't understand that.....because I used a lot of words...just use it. Cool! 

Eyebrow shape  

Open your eyes! Seriously... You need to arch your brows upward. That's it! 

Brow Highlight

STOP! 

(Unless your skin is the same color as your brows you don't need the highlight. The forehead highlight is enough.)

Rupaul's Drag Race Season 7 Episode 2 RUVIEW

Now that everyone has had a chance to see the queens on the show, we can all start seeing their roles this season. I have a top 5 already out of the girls....well a top 4 now that one of them got sent home this episode, but we'll get into that later.

As always, the episode starts off with everyone entering the workroom after Tempest Dujour goes home, and Kandy Ho cleans off the mirror since she was in the bottom 2 along with Tempest. Everyone seems exhausted but the mood changes from calm to tense when Violet says "I hate Michelle Visage." I feel like Violet might be the villain this season because she walked in pretty sure of herself and she seems like she will push away anyone who tries to get in the way of getting that crown. And let me tell you, I am living for Violet. She doesn't seem to care if she offends someone, she just says what's on her mind and she knows shes a threat. I'm looking forward to her future shenanigans.

Quick side note: I feel a ton of tension and competition between Miss Fame and Violet and I saw this the first episode with Miss Fame and her side eye she gave Violet when Violet won the main challenge. I'm not surprised.

Next was Sasha Belle confronting Pearl and explaining what happened onstage. In the first episode, the queens had to tell Rupaul who least impressed them and why. Sasha had said Pearl because she saw Pearl as a huge threat to her. So this obviously caused some tension afterwards. Sasha had tried talking to Pearl and Pearl just blew her off which caused even more tension...as expected.

MINI CHALLENGE TIME!

This week's mini challenge was quite interesting. The Pit Crew walked in with leaf blowers and the queens had 15 minutes to get into drag and whoever gave the most face while getting blown with the leaf blower would win. There were 2 winners and they were Ginger Minj and Trixie Mattel (get it Trixie!) Because Ginger and Trixie won, they were team captains for the main challenge and got to pick who would be on their teams. 

The teams were as follows:

Team Ginger: Sasha Belle, Jasmine Masters, Kasha Davis, Jaidynn Diore Fierce, Kennedy, Kandy Ho

Team Trixie: Pearl, Miss Fame (or MISS LAME according to Trixie), Katya, Max, Violet


Violet and Kandy Ho were both tense about being picked last...which I would be too. They seem like the outcasts this season. Interesting.


THE MAIN CHALLENGE

The main challenge was a musical number about an airline run by drag queens. Each team had their own number to perform and everyone was judged individually. Ginger won the challenge this week, and Sasha and Katya ended up lipsyncing. Sasha sashayed away. Here we go with my rant.

I didn't know Sasha when she was announced, but I absolutely loved her. I loved her so much she was one of my top 5 picks. I definitely encourage everyone to take the time and actually look her up and follow her because I feel like her time in the show misrepresented her. I remember seeing her Covergurlz video and I saw someone say "...well someone has to go home first...". Joke's on you because she went home second...and for the record, Sasha is amazing and she's one of the most versatile queens that was on this season and I feel angry that she went home so early because I feel she had a lot to showcase. And that's it. I was upset about this weeks elimination.

3 FAVORITE RUNWAY LOOKS THIS WEEK

Trixie: I know Jasmine and Ginger were coming for this look in Untucked and they were coming for Trixie in general but what can I say....? I'm one of those people that just GETS Trixie. Hate on it.

Pearl: Once again she slayed me with her beauty. Pearl is literally so pretty it hurts and that laid back personality with the bitch face has made me a Pearl fanatic.

Max: Max is always in character and she sold her runway look. She always wears simple but elegant clothes with a twist of old glamour. YAS MAX.

Annnddddd I think this covers this week because I really don't know what else to write besides the fact that I'm mad about Sasha Belle getting eliminated. Also, Miss Fame really needs to let loose. Don't disappoint us!

Admira Thunderpussy: Rising Star

Often times in drag, people can underestimate a pretty queen for not having enough personality...but that's why Admira is a talent. She can be visually appealing, put on a sickening performance, and have a fun and energetic attitude to match. Admira is only 20 years old and she was already nominated for a major award and began drag by producing a big drag show when she was 18.


1.Who is Admira Thunderpussy?

Admira Thunderpussy is a tall, monstreous ,female-like creature, constantly smoking and never smiling. She is a result of imagination and a product of body distinction (a shitload of padding). A performer, hostess, MILF and artist. I'm a cunt with a capital T!



2. When and why did you begin doing drag?

I started working as a drag-hostess and performer the minute I graduated school in Stockholm. During my senior year in school, I put together a huge dragshow-production with 6 dancers, 30 costumes, live singing, parodies and burlesque, and I produced, choreographed and starred in every number. Art, theatre and performing is something that always have been close to my heart and during shcool I had the wonderful opportunity to showcase all of my crazy ideas on a real stage in front of a Iarge crowd.
I spent every dime and every minute during my time of school producing, writing, editing, sewing and rehearsing for the big day. Looking back it feels almost unreal how I managed to juggle a finishing year in school, while at the same time putting my heart and soul in to one of the most challenging projects of my life.
But all the hard work payed of. After my show had it's premiere (I only performed the show once, cause I had so many final tests in school), some people from the gay community got a hold of me and suddenly I was working in clubs, performing during Stockholm Pride, starring in interviews and big theatre productions, all while I was nineteen, which when I think about it, is pretty crazy, right!?


3. Where did you get your drag name?

My "real" name is Adam, and back when I was deciding what drag name I wanted to go for,  I knew I wanted something similar, so I had several suggestions in my mind, and I almost wound up with the name Adore.. And thank god I didn't! I ended up with the name Admira cause it just felt pretty original and easy. Thunderpussy just felt right, and currently that's what most people call me.

4. Who is your biggest inspiration?

Susan Boyle, duh!? Besides her, my grandmother is a real fierce bitch! Always telling it like it is and she is such a sweet, indipendet woman. She has always been supportive of both my drag and my sexuality and she is by far the person in my life who I feel the closest too.


5. What is your biggest accomplishment so far?

Sweden's biggest and only gay magazine, called QX, arranges an award show every year with categories like "Hetero of the year","LGBT-person of the year", "Drag of the year". It's a huge spectacle, a real gala! The nominees in the different categories are chosen through voting (anybody can go to the QX-website and vote for whomever they think should get nominated). 2014 i got nominated for drag of the year. It was so surreal, I mean, here I am, a twenty year old boy who chooses to express himself through wigs, makeup and perfomance, and I'm already all up in the "drag of the year" category? Say what!?

6. How is Swedish drag different from other drag around the world?

The swedish drag scene is pretty small I would say, and the club scene in Stockholm, where I work and live, is also quite narrow, hence the competition is real sharp. We have quite a lot of drag show-groups in Sweden who are amazing at putting together fabulous shows, but currently I think I'm one of the very few who "work alone".
The Swedish drag style in itself has in it's history gained popularity and interest by basically trying to "pass" as a real woman, while at the same time putting on an incredible show. Today, with Drag Race on Netflix, I feel like the overall drag style in Sweden is taking a direction towards a more over-the-top and harsher look, which by looking at my nose contour, you should understand I enjoy.

7. What has been the biggest lesson you've learned while doing drag?

People are real damn superficial. And straight guys will fuck anything with a lash on.


8. In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood thing about drag?

That it's not something you could do as a job. Sometimes, a lot of Swedish people come up to me when Im hosting, and ask me "Do you always go out and party like that?". And when I try to explain to them that I am working, they get pretty confused. Again, I think it's because of the small size of the Swedish drag scene.


9. What is your favorite/least favorite thing about drag?

My favorite thing about drag is that I can create an Image in my head of a certain character and put it on my exterior self, it truly is empowering. But I also like that I can easily steal poppers from strangers!
My least favorite thing about drag is when drunk people come up to you and start rubbing your mug. I mean, I didn't sit for 18 hours beating my face just so that you could touch it, right?!

10. Do you have a favorite performance that you've ever done?

My signature performance that I love doing is Cola with Lana Del Rey, where I lipsynch to the song while tasting my pussy. But I also love this new number that I recently produced, where I do an enema with a huge Poppers-bottle while playing on bongo drums!


11. What advice do you have for other performers out there who would like to be drag artists?

Do not take it too seriously and take some time to study drag culture and it's history. If your planning to work as a drag artist, you better always deliver and hold on to your work ethic!


12. What is something that makes you unique that not many people know about you?

I may come across as a very non-serious and flamboyant character in drag, but I am actually very mature. Even back when I was around 17, a lot of people would guess that I was in my late twenties, because of my behavior. It's almost like there is a fat old girl living inside of my gay-boy-bottom-body.

13. Where did you learn to do your makeup?

Masturbation and doing makeup goes hand in hand, you discover what you like and what works and the more often you do it, the faster you finish! I started by watched some shit on YouTube but I think I wanted to understand the science of feminine facial structure and what the typical features were.Then I just magnified it, and when I saw what Willam Belli was doing with his face, I understood what not to do, and that's when everything started to look better!


14. If you could work with anyone, who would you pick and why?

I would love to work with Barbra Streisand, just so I could get the chance to countour that fucking nose down! Other than that, I could work with anyone, i love working and cooperating with different types of people!


15. Do you have a most embarrassing moment?

Well besides getting ready in drag at a hospital, falling down a couple of stairs and doing a show with a bubblegumsituation, I would say that just doing this interview takes home the price! Oh, right and having to ask people who read this to follow me on instagram.. @admirathunderpssy

Noodles: Spontaneous Drag Gypsy

If you're someone who loves to follow artists that are mysterious yet spontaneous-then Noodles is going to be someone you will fall in love with. She has a whole spectrum of fabulous looks and is guaranteed to keep you interested. She most recently started doing tutorials on YouTube and if you don't know her-you definitely will in the future.

1. Who is Noodles?

Noodles is really just a heightened (especially in 8 inch heels) version of my boy persona. She is my creative outlet and is a complete chameleon because she's constantly changing up her look. Sometimes she does more fishy looks whereas sometimes she takes a club kid approach. I like to refer to Noodles as a drag gypsy because she's constantly moving to different cities, taking her drag all over the place.

2. When and why did you start doing drag?

I started in Cincinnati, Ohio about a year and a half ago as one of the Drag Race generation queens; so a lot of my inspiration to start was from watching the show and seeing how interesting the world of drag is. I've always been a really creative and artistic person, so the idea of using my face and makeup skills as my canvas intrigued me and motivated me to try it out.

3. Where did you get your drag name?

I actually originally went by the name Samantha Alan. However, after realizing I wanted to take a more light hearted approach towards my drag, I decided to change it. Noodles is a family nickname I have had since I was younger, and I thought it would be the perfect drag name because it's fun and something I'm already used to responding to. Plus, I'm a sucker for drag names that have no last name.

4. When did you start doing YouTube?

I've been on YouTube as a viewer for as long as I can remember, but I only just recently starting making my own content. During my winter break this past Christmas, I thought I would try doing a makeup tutorial because I was really inspired by Pearl's makeup, and the feedback I received from the video motivated me to continue to make more.

5. Who is your favorite queen from Season 7 of Rupaul's Drag Race?

Oh gosh, that's such a tough question!! I don't think I can pick an absolute favorite so I'll just have to say Max, Violet, and Pearl - mostly because all three of them have amazing style. I also think Max's perspective on drag is really unique and all the content she has been posting lately has me loving her even more. As for Violet, she is just sheer perfection. It's so inspiring to see such a young queen be SO polished and confident with her drag. And the bitch can perform too. And Pearl is just so damn beautiful, in and out of drag. Did I mention gorgeous out of drag? Plus her personality is hilarious.

6. Who is your biggest inspiration?

Mathu Andersen. He is the absolute god of makeup, and I can't even put it into words how much he inspires me.

7. Out of the season 7 queens' makeup that you did videos on, which one was your favorite?

My favorite was probably my Violet look just because I think I really succeeded in looking like her the most compared to the other tutorials I did. But honestly. they have all been really fun to film because I get to try out different makeup techniques and see how they work on my face.

8. What is your biggest pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve is people who are full of themselves and are very blatant and patronizing about it. I think it's fine if you are confident in yourself, but you don't need to vocalize it to the point that you look like an asshole and are rude about it.

9. What is your most embarrassing moment?

Hahahahaha. Oh my god! The first time I ever performed in drag, I tried to do a death drop, and it ended up looking like I slipped and fell flat on my ass. The worst part is, I thought I nailed it and I was thinking to myself "YES BITCH!! YOU JUST NAILED IT AND EVERYONE IS GAGGING!" The next day, I watched the video of the performance and was so embarrassed, but I couldn't help but laugh at myself because it was so tragic and you could tell I thought I nailed it from how I performed after it.

10. What has been your biggest accomplishment so far?

My biggest accomplishment was probably getting my picture published in "The Coven Magazine," which is a bi-annual creative arts publication produced by the Witches of Bushwick in New York that features some really amazing artists in Brooklyn, so it was a huge honor to have my photo included.

11. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself married to a woman with 3 beautiful children. Hahahah no - I have no idea where I see myself! In all honesty, I'll probably be laying in my bed, eating Flamin Hot Cheetos, and watching season 17 of drag race.

12. Have you ever been star struck when meeting anyone for the first time?

I remember when I met Manila Luzon, I was super nervous because I had never met a queen from drag race before. But ever since then, I've managed to keep my cool whenever I meet someone I really idolize.

13. In your opinion, what is the most misunderstood thing about drag?

The most misunderstood thing is definitely that drag queens are in drag all the time. I've had people ask me if RuPaul is in drag all the time and some of my friends have told me that people have asked them if I am always in drag now. Don't get me wrong, I love putting on makeup and going out, but there is no way in hell that i would do it all day everyday.

14. Marry, Kai Kai, Kill: Trixie Mattel, Laganja Estranja, Raven.

I'd definitely marry Trixie. I mean think of all the money we'd save from not having to buy Barbie dolls for our kids! I'd fuck...oh sorry, I'd "kai kai" Raven. And I'd kill Laganja because I feel like she came for me.....I don't remember when or what is was that she said, but it HURT! Plus, she is competition because there can only be one death dropping queen so I need to get rid of her.

Sissy Spastik: Chicago's Non-Medicated, Bi-Polar, Andro Mannequin

The most compelling thing about the performers in Chicago is they appreciate having a different aesthetic than just any other queen. Sissy Spastik is no exception, mixing a dash of androgyny into her aesthetic and admiring legends such as Annie Lennox, she wants to show the world that being the outcast isn't necessarily terrible. 

1. Who is Sissy Spastik?

She's Chicago's non-medicated, bi-polar, andro mannequin.

2. Where did you get your drag name?

My drag name is inspired by Sissy Spacek, as her character "Carrie".

3. Who is your biggest inspiration?

I have many inspirations, but the main people are: Annie Lennox, Grace Jones, David Bowie, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Thierry Mugler, Patrick Nagel, Stephen Sprouse, Leigh Bowery, Gareth Pugh... You see where this is going.

4. Do you have a most embarrassing moment?

That night I had to have my LYFT driver pull over so I could vomit due to a terrible migraine. Luckily no one saw me, as it was 2am on my way home from a gig.

5. Do you have a favorite performance you've ever done?

Being a Gemini, I am bored easily and like to move onto the next project; but I would say my favorite performance was when I performed "money, success, fame, glamour" from the movie Party Monster... I handed out cans of spray paint and had audience members spray paint my dress. I was inspired by a McQueen fashion show where this robot spray painted a model's dress.

6. What has been your biggest accomplishment/biggest obstacle?

My biggest accomplishment has been getting the amazing opportunity to paint the legendary James St. James for his Transformations show. The look I did on his was inspired by 1980's punk, graffiti meets Dale Bozzio from the band Missing Persons, with a little bit of clown thrown in. My biggest obstacle I guess is always looking for outlets of creative inspiration and to constantly look at non-traditional things as inspiration for looks. I love using spray paint, clay, paper, jewels and various objects to perfect my looks.

7. When and why did you start doing drag?

I've been wearing makeup since I was a kid; playing with my mother's makeup in secret. I didn't know it was called "drag" until I was much older; I dabbled with makeup and worked in the retail makeup industry for over 10 years way before I started actually doing drag and going out in drag in the public eye. Drag is a huge creative outlet for me. It fuels me to see the world in a different light. It allows me to see myself in various facets. I coin myself as "Chicago's non-medicated, bi-polar, andro mannequin" because I choose to do looks based on my moods and how I am feeling in my life. It's drag! Why look the same 24/7 365?! I'd rather be a chameleon than a one trick pony.

8. What is the biggest lesson you've learned?

One of the biggest lessons I've learned in drag is to not take life too seriously. What other people think about you and say about you is fueled from their own insecurities and jealousies. Do you. Be you and do it well! No one can do you better than you! Be proud of who you are and fuck the rest! It's drag! It's not that serious!

9. What is something you wish to accomplish in the future?

Finally making RuPaul's Drag Race to show the world how far I can take my creativity and to show that with hard work, experience and dedication to your craft, you can be who you want to be. Making a difference in someone's life would mean a lot to me; as I have always been an outcast and been misunderstood. I strive to represent the underdogs and rebels of our generation.

10. If you could work with anyone in the future, who would it be and why?

If I could work with anyone in the future it would be Annie Lennox and Grace Jones. They both are the epitome of androgyny, power, fashion, beauty, versatility, intelligence and pure talent.

11. What is the most misunderstood thing about drag in your opinion?

The most misunderstood thing about drag, in my opinion, is that people who don't understand drag think that we as queens only do drag to fool people into making them believe that we are women or only want to be women. That is sometimes true, but not always. There's such a huge array of drag artists and what we try to evoke and represent varies from queen to queen. I can only speak for myself when I say I enjoy using all the colors in the eye shadow palettes. One night I'll paint to look like a beautiful woman, the next I'll paint to look like a crazy, alien club-kid.

12. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I would love to go to Europe; I follow a lot of European queens on social media and they have such amazing talent and eye for the non-traditional.

13.What is something that not many people know about you?

I'm an only child and tend to keep to myself a lot. I've always been a bit of a loner and somewhat socially awkward. When I'm not at a gig, I prefer small crowds. I enjoy getting to know people on a deeper level; it's the old soul in me. My favorite thing about performing is being in the spotlights; the energy from the audience is very exhilarating. I love getting to show 2-3 looks rather than say at a hosing gig showing one look. My least favorite thing about performing is that I hate having to have the same makeup for 3 songs. I have enough time to change my lip color in between numbers. To be able to snap my fingers and my makeup would go on as fast as it is to come off. Al though, I enjoy the experience of getting into drag. The journey. The cooking. The baking. It's all a rather exciting recipe.
